March 11th, 2013 will be an historic day!

It is with great emotion that I share this news with you today :

We were waiting for an answer to know if the total ban of animal testing in Europe would be effective in March 2013 as planned.

Big cosmetics brands were trying to get a delay.

That ban forbids animal testing on finished products + ingredients, and no matter where in the world the products are manufactured.

We're talking about the cosmetics, including soap & toothpaste.

Well, it seems it is confirmed!

TOTAL BAN WON'T BE DELAYED!! IT WILL BE EFFECTIVE ON MARCH 11TH, 2013!!

Unless there's a huge turnaround, it is a victory!
A victory for lab animals.

But the fight is not over...

That ban is for Europe. There is still the rest of the world.

There is already a ban effective in Israel.
And let's be honest, Europe will influence the course of events.

But please, don't think the fight is over.
It is only a first win.

I leave you with a video.
It explains how it works in Europe.

Hong Kong is an exception - nubar goes back on the list!

Nubar wasn't away from PETA's cruelty free list for a long time

Many things happened with nubar lately.

Beginning of January I found out, on the nail polish brand s website, their products are available in China.

I advised PETA since nubar was still showing on their cruelty free list.

PETA told me they would verify if the brand still meets their requirements to stay there.

One or two weeks later, nubar disappeared from it.

However, the day after, I got an email from PETA telling me that nubar is still cruelty free since they are only in Hong Kong & they are not planing to go anywhere else in China

So they're back on the good list.

My thoughts

For now, nubar remains cruelty free.
But, being in China (even if Hong Kong is an exception), I don't know if it's a good thing.

Once there, it seems to me it would be easier to expand to the rest of the country, no ?

We'll see.

China

What else to say about that country : the animals fate there is not something to envy.

Indeed, in that country, if you want to market your skin care products or cosmetics, animal testing is required by law.
The only exception is Hong Kong.

PETA is working hard with the Chinese government to make alternative tests approved.

China has now a 5 year plan to approve these methods.

5 years, it's a long time.

But, it s already better than nothing.

nubar ain't on PETA's good list no more

Do you remember? I told you about nubar in the beginning of January.
If you wanna read the article, you may click here.

The brand didn't tell PETA they were expanding to China. (Oh Surprise!)

I decided to repair the mistake and advised PETA myself.
They told me they would verify the information.

Well, it is official now, nubar is off PETA's cruelty free list now.

nubar would normally appear under NovAurora

This is the reason why I respect PETA so much. They verify the information. They make sure they have the right info.

It is obvious they cannot be aware of everything.
The brands won't brag about not being cruelty free anymore. They try to keep it secret as long as possible.

That's why you must tell PETA when you know a brand has changed its politics about animal testing.
(and please, tell me too!)

We can help animals!!And NEVER close our eyes!!

The fight goes on.

Soulstice Spa + GIVEAWAY TIME!!

I came across a nail polish brand I did not know, and I have to say I love it!

I bought a Soulstice Spa bottle for $8,50 on nailpolishcanada.com
The color I chose is Odessa.

First thing, the color is gorgeous and it is pigmented.
Two coats are enough to cover your nails.

It gives a nice pearl finish.

Regarding drying time, it is very acceptable.
There are polishes that dry faster, but the difference of time isn't that much.

Second, durability.

This polish does not chip.
Even without a topcoat.

After a whole week, it stays gorgeous!

What's wonderful is, that besides being a good quality product, it is a vegan one and obviously it ain't tested on animals.
(PETA approved)

In other words, no animals were victims of tests and no ingredient comes from them.

No impact on our furry friends:-)
You can have a clear conscience.

I only have good words for Soulstice Spa.

I like it so much, I decided I'd share that with you.

There is a giveaway for the blog members.
If you are not a member yet, don't worry. You may join now and the contest will be opened to you as well.

You can participate here.

Good luck!

PETA's answer about Nubar + Interesting news about China

Few days ago, I saw on nubar's website they seemed to be available in China.
This means animal testing.
If you missed that post, here is the link.

Since nubar is still on PETA's cruelty free list, I decided to send an email to PETA to make sure they're aware of the situation.

Here is the print screen of the answer I got.

As you may see, I have put yellow on 2 sections of the email.

The first section is a confirmation from PETA they're checking what's happening with nubar.
We'll know pretty soon.

Second part is really interesting :

''China has a five-year plan for the acceptance of all non-animal test methods used in the EU, and training for scientists has begun''

We already knew about the training part.

But the 5-year plan ? I was not aware of that, and according to the reaction I got on Twitter, I was not alone.

It's good news since it proves there's hope for Chinese animals.
I wish it could be faster, but it's a start!

What are your thoughts about that ?

Kiss my face and its shampoo

You probably saw in store the Kiss My Face brand.
We get to see it more and more.

It is available at Tau, Loblaws and some drugstores.

I bought the Big Body Shampoo hoping for more volume.

There is lavender in it. It helps slow hair loss and improve hair texture.
There's also chamomile to make your hair shine.

It's a 325 ml bottle that cost me $7.95.

I'm really satisfied with it.

This shampoo foams a lot and has a great scent.

It really gives more volume and adds shine as promised on the bottle.

It leaves your hair soft.

That's what we're looking for, isn't it ? :)

A good affordable shampoo, that I recommend.

I'll buy more.

This shampoo, as well as the two others offered by Kiss My Face (Whenever and Miss Treated), is vegan.

This means there is no animal ingredients in it.

Also, the 3 shampoos are SLS, parabens and phtalates free.

No artificial color or synthetic preservatives.

And the last but not least, it's 100% biodegradable!

This makes me think this post on shampoo & its ingredients might interest you. (In French)

Kiss My Face is PETA and Leaping Bunny approved.
You can trust the brand to be cruelty free.
(If it wasn't, there would be no place for it in here ! )

Anyone already tried this brand before ?

Nubar - another one in China!

I'm so fed up of all the brands that decide to go to China.

They do it knowing that it's mandatory to test on animals in order to sell their products in that country.

Many brands decided to give up their ''against animal testing'' policies so they can get more money.

I visited nubar's website today.
I wanted to know something, when I saw their international section and decided to click on it.

What a bad surprise...

You may see that they are apparently available in China. Like OPI...
Here is the link if you want to see it directly on nubar's site.

Despite that, nubar still uses PETA 's logo as you can see in the next picture.
The bunny is at the bottom, on the right side.

Home

I suppose they forgot to tell PETA they're now available in China...
They're still on the don't test list today :

That's why I'm sending nubar an email and I'll inform PETA.

If you wanna help to put an end to the horrible tests on animals, I invite you to write to nubar (be polite) to tell them what you think about all of this.

Here is their email address : info@bynubar.com

MokaJo

I have discovered lately a really interesting blog ''made in Quebec''.

That website talks about the animal condition into our society.
It goes from animal testing to vegetarian restaurants without forgetting rescues and a lot more.

http://mokajo.blogspot.ca/

In fact,
MokaJo presents a cruelty free lifestyle!

The blog is in french.

Going through the blog, we get to know its author is vegan.

I am vegetarian for more than 3 years now, but I wanna go vegan in 2013.

This blog will for sure help me.

For those of you who want to lower their participation in animal suffering, this blog will provide you with a lot of good information and inspiration. At every level.

I invite you to have a look at it, it's worth it!
There is not so many blogs as well written as hers.
